And that's how it started

Finish Line-Tour de Pink 2009
Have you ever heard someone say "We should..." and then nothing ever happens? Well that's how this got started. I've been saying that far too long but haven't had the drive to make something happen for a long time.

Every January and February, for as long as I can remember, the winter doldrums hit me and I start looking for a "job."  Last year when I had a job in January and  February, I was looking for a way out of the job to do something else!  So this January instead of job hunting I went project hunting. I let several projects slide by me as not something in which I was interested. Then while on the tennis courts a friend said something about "we should get some ladies together and ride in that pink bike thing they do every year." And it hit me! I would love to make that happen. No more we should. Tour de Pink 2010 here we come!

Tour de Pink is the first bike ride in Texas solely benefiting breast cancer. This year it will be on Sunday, September 19th, 2010 at Prairie View A&M University just outside of Houston, Texas.  Routes are available for all levels: 12, 23, 47, 63, 80 and 100 miles!  I think we are going for the 23 or 47 mile routes. Each rider is responsible for raising $100 in pledges from family and friends. This money goes to the Pink Ribbons Project in motion against breast cancer to fight breast cancer through awareness and education programs and the support of proper screening for the medically underserved funding and outreach initiatives.

With the lightening speed of email, within a couple of hours I had 5 people interested in riding and 2 volunteers. I could  make this happen and help a worthy cause in the process.  I'm not sure of the next step but I'll keep track of the progress through this website. Keep checking back!
